natural born yearner
how do I know? well...
sometimes I walk by someone and imagine what they might be doing or their job or what’s on their mind based on their expression and what they’re wearing. Or what a hug from them must feel like. I wonder how they’d react if I offered to help them carry a box, would they be glad for the help? Be too anxious to ask for it and turn it down? Or entirely annoyed? Do they always look both ways before crossing the street? Do they always walk to the right of the sidewalk, or hurriedly weave in and out of both sides?
Sometimes I even imagine if we became friends or fell in love. Do they like soup as much as I do? What is their coffee order, or do they avoid caffeine? Would they say yes to coffee if I just stopped them and asked? Are they new to the city and hoping for friends? Are they tourist looking for recommendations? Have they lived here for decades and know the name of every street? What does their apartment look like compared to mine? Do they have a bookshelf? Pets? What would our house look like if we were an old married couple? Do the importance of their smile as they walk past on these cold winter days? Do they know I care about them?

your heart is special, Jack. as a natural born yeaner, you have such a way with words and the imagination. i’m jealous of those who get to know you in person, because i think we’d be the kind of best friends people write stories about
sending my love 🫶🤍
☹️❤️ what you are is rare, Jack. This is honestly one of the sweetest things I've ever read, no matter how short and simple it is. It's earnest and adorable, and the world needs that right now. It's like hot chocolate. Going really soft on you, this isn't good
