The dam will break

a poem on letting my own creativity flow after suppressing it for so long

Where is that version of me without

the dam

I have spent my whole life controlling the

flow of my own

ideas

Hiring an engineer named

fear

and a construction team called

shame

in the name of

progress

instead of

wading in the sweet stream called

my soul

and letting nature take its course.

Rivers move, slowly

eroding the land

in their way;

so too will the words

inside of me

force their way out
